Wings As Eagles

The day after my daughter’s wedding I was thrilled to have an opportunity to sing Wings as Eagles by Ron Hamilton with my brother, Nelson Goucher. We do not get to do this often!

Lyrics | Wings as Eagles

When the race still lies before me, and the wind is blowing strong
when the witnesses surround me, and my strength is almost gone;
when the valley plunges deeper, and life shatters all my dreams,
then I lift my voice to Jesus, and He gives my spirit wings.

God gives wings; God gives wings as eagles;
God gives wings to fly and strength to rise above.
God gives wings, God gives wings as eagles when my feet begin to stumble,
and my dreams begin to crumble, I mount up on eagles wings.

Let us run the race with patience, let us lay each weight aside,
Looking only unto Jesus; He will be out faithful guide.
He has run the race before us; He has won the victor’s crown,
and He calls to every Christian follow me to higher ground.

God gives wings; God gives wings as eagles;
God gives wings to fly and strength to rise above.
God gives wings, God gives wings as eagles when my feet begin to stumble,
and my dreams begin to crumble, I mount up on eagles wings.

A Lesson in Humility

If you were in my Sunday School class two weeks ago, I told the story of how I went from the heights of joy to the depths of despair, all in one day. Here is a brief recap.

At the age of 20 I had just organized my first major event. I am talking BIG!. I was so pleased with myself. Notice the hint of pride here. After walking on cloud nine all day I was wrapping things up at the end of the event. As I was walking up a flight of stairs in the back of the venue, I tripped and dropped a money box full of change. You can imagine my horror as a box full of money made its way down four flights of concrete stairs. In my mind, the sound went on forever. Not to mention I was also sporting bruised and bleeding shins.

This experience was a valuable lesson for me in humility.

I was reminded of this story as I was preparing for my lesson tomorrow. I was using one of the study tools that was presented to me as a “thank you” for my work organizing the event. I came across this typed letter all the way back from 1985. Chuckle, I feel old right now.

WATM Letter

Little did I know that years later I would be using the tools given to me to help and minister to others. Thank you, Lord!

Time for a Change

Have you ever been really comfortable where you are at and not want to change? I have been there with my website. I was comfortable with things as they were.

Well, I had to get out of my comfort zone and make a change. I had trouble with my site and due to some technical snafu’s I am doing a little bit of redesign work on the site. It is coming together but will definitely remain a work in progress for a wee bit of time.

I will be posting some of the music from the family. Solos, duets, family specials. I will also be sharing some the content from a summer series I am doing about the book of James.

James is considered the New Testament Proverbs. I am working on a podcast of the lessons as well as providing snippets and notes from the series.

I would love to hear from you. Please comment below!
